JRC RENO UPDATES
Hello everyone,
Welcome back for the 2024/25 season. Renovations at the JRC are still underway!
Here are some changes that occurred over the off season:
- In the arena shed you will notice that there is new lighting, the insulation has been reinstalled to be flush with the ceiling, new stereo system has been installed, instructions on how to use it will be posted. Note that this control set up is temporary for the season.
- The NEW Zamboni room is reaching final stages of completion and should be operational at some time during the season.
- There is a hoarding wall in place on the east wall of the facility. This is so work can continue in the new area throughout the ice season. The score clock is in a temporary location for the season due to this change.
- With the hoarding wall and up and coming Zamboni room change over storage is very limited at the facility. Due to the temp washroom trailer location, we are being mindful of maintaining a walkway for patrons along the back wall of the arena. For the first few months, only one full size set of nets will be available for use. They will mostly be stored on the ice surface until the Arena Operators have moved into the new space.
The following things remain the same as last year – and we are sending this as a reminder or update for users who may not have been to the JRC the previous season. The first day of operations will be Tuesday, September 3.
- Attached are the layouts to help your members familiarize themselves with the new setup before their first arena visit. Signage will be available to help direct folks around the temporary set up and arena shell.
Things to consider for the ice season:
- Emergency exits are only used only for emergency.
- Parking available along the road behind the JRC.
- Drop off zone available for parents to let their child out and then locate available parking.
- Temporary change rooms and washrooms do have a “step up” to enter as do the public washrooms. Please let members know accessibility has some challenges with a step.
- Encourage all skaters to use skate guards.
- Younger participants who may find it easier to have their parents assist them getting ready in a public area can enter the players access door and immediately enter the arena shell. Walking upper hallway towards the Players benches, the stands can be used for putting on skates and assisting participants to ice level. Rubber matting is available, but skate guards are encouraged.
- Encourage ice participants to arrive with two full water bottles (if they require) for practice or games. Water bottles can be filled at the water bottle fill station inside of the arena.
