Bantam Photographs

The weekend of December 4th, the Fort Saskatchewan Gunther Construction Bantam A team travelled to the Jasper Bearcats tournament. The drive down was an interesting one, as Alberta was hit with it's first winter storm of the season. The drive was worth it as it was the start to a great weekend of hockey for the team. On Friday night, The team played the host team, The Jasper Bearcats. They won the game handily by a score of 7-1. Game #2 on Saturday saw the club against the team from Prince George, BC. Once again, the team managed a victory with a convincing 8-4 win. This gave the team a total of 10 points and advanced them to the A final on Sunday morning against the North Seera team from Edmonton. The first period ended with neither team on the scoreboard although the Rangers Goalie had to be sharp as they were outshot 11 -3. Period 2 saw North Seera score 2 goals but regardless of the score the tide was turning and the Rangers were starting to dominate the play and at the end of the second period the shots were even. The Rangers, as they had done all weekend continued to apply pressure, did not give up and early in the third period tied the game at 2. Both clubs played hard and it was setting up to be a battle with the next goal going to be decisive. Unfortunately for the Rangers faithful North Seera went ahead at 10:15 of the third period. The Rangers continued to fight and had their chances, but couldn't put the puck in the net. The Ranger's bench decided to pull the goalie in the last minute of play in hopes that the team would get the tying goal, but it was not to be and North Seera scored on the empty net. The team lost the game by a 4 - 2 score. The goal tending, defense & offence played tremendous this weekend and the coaching staff and parents are very proud of the team's accomplishment this weekend.
